What you need
- Any AI tool with web search — ChatGPT with browsing, Claude, Perplexity, or any AI that can look things up. Works without web search too — just paste what you know.
- Company name — required
- Interviewer name or LinkedIn URL — optional, but makes the brief significantly better
- Job description — paste it in for more tailored talking points
How to do it
Step 1
Research the company
Paste the job description into your AI tool and ask for a company research brief. If your AI has web search, it will pull current info. If not, it will work from what you provide.
I have an interview at [COMPANY NAME] for the [ROLE TITLE] role. Here is the job description:
[PASTE JOB DESCRIPTION]
Please research this company and give me:
1. What they do (2-3 sentences, plain language)
2. Company size, stage, and any recent funding
3. 3-5 recent news items or developments worth mentioning in an interview
4. Their main competitors and how they differentiate
5. Any notable tech stack or tools they use (from job descriptions, blog posts, etc.)
6. What's happening in their market right now that's relevant to this role
For more current results, use an AI with web search enabled (ChatGPT browsing, Perplexity, or Claude with search). For older or less-known companies, paste in what you find from their website and LinkedIn.
Step 2
Research the interviewer
If you know who you're meeting with, look them up on LinkedIn and paste their profile into your AI. This is the step most people skip — and the one that makes the biggest difference.
My interviewer is [NAME], [TITLE] at [COMPANY]. Here is their LinkedIn profile or background:
[PASTE LINKEDIN SUMMARY, WORK HISTORY, OR ANY INFO YOU FOUND]
Please give me:
1. Their career arc in 2-3 sentences — where they came from and what they care about
2. How long they've been at this company and what their role covers
3. Any public writing, posts, or talks worth referencing
4. 2-3 conversation starters based on their background
5. What they likely care about in this hire based on their position
No LinkedIn access? Google "[Name] + [Company]" and paste whatever you find. Even a paragraph is better than nothing.
Step 3
Generate your prep brief
Combine everything into a structured prep doc you can read the night before. This prompt pulls the company research and interviewer background together into something actionable.
Based on everything above — the company research, the job description, and the interviewer background — please generate a structured interview prep brief with these sections:
1. The 60-second company pitch (what they do and why it matters, in their words)
2. 3 talking points I should work into the conversation naturally, tied to their current situation
3. 3-5 questions I should ask — specific, not generic, based on what you found
4. 1 thing to watch out for or dig into based on what you found
5. What success looks like in this role based on the job description
Keep it tight. I want something I can read in 10 minutes and walk in prepared.

Tips for better results
- Always include the interviewer name. The talking points get dramatically better when there's a real person to anchor them to.
- Run it the night before. Give yourself time to read it properly and pick 2-3 things to work into conversation naturally.
- Use the questions section. Questions grounded in real company news read as genuinely curious, not scripted.
- Pair with a thank-you right after. Use the Thank-You Email skill while the conversation details are still fresh.
